We have a Blog!

Hello, world! We have wanted to start a blog for the past quadrillion years. Clearly, that is an over exaggeration, but you get the picture. At one point, we even started a blog called the SemiColon Life (we thought a bunch of random activities like baking, decorating, etc. were closely related, hence the name). That blog lasted a total of one creation day and one post, before we fell off the bandwagon. Now we are 7 years older and oh so much wiser. We are so excited to finally put in to action one of our dreams. So, let's get this party started.

In the spirit of a first blog post we have decided to start with introductions. But, being those people who find it hard to introduce ourselves we have decided to introduce each other. Read below to find out what we have to say about each other.

Christie's thoughts about Summer:

1. What inspires Summer? Anything and everything. I have never met someone other than Summer who can take the ordinary and elevate it into the extraordinary. It's like she has been ripped from a post-modern textbook. I love it!

2. If Summer could do one thing for the rest of her life, what do you think it would be? Take photographs. Whether it would be with her iPhone or her Nikon, Summer would never spend a day without her camera.

3. If Summer could only listen to one song for the rest of her life what would it be? That would be torture. Summer has what I like to call "Music ADD." She switches songs constantly only pausing to listen to her favorite parts of different songs. But I would like to say that it would have to be a Miranda Lambert song, not because she is a fan, but because when Summer sings along she has this most amazing twang. But I think Summer would say "Radioactive" by Pentatonix and Lindsey Stirling.

4. What is Summer's favorite ice cream? A Cupcake with extra crunchies and chocolate ice cream from Dairy Queen.

5. If Summer could live anywhere in the world where would she live? London, England. Summer is a big history buff and loves herself a good period piece movie set in England. Not only that, Summer is a city girl that thrives off of architecture, theatre, and all things artsy.

6. What does Summer admire most about you? I would say that Summer admires my word skills. She says things to me like "how did you even think to say it like that?" It's pretty amazing to have a wife that acknowledges and supports your strengths.

7. If Summer were a pattern which one would she be? This is a tough choice between stripes and polka dots, but I'm going with stripes. Summer would be a black and white stripe.

8. What is Summer's favorite food? Chinese food. More specifically, Chicken Teriyaki with plain fried rice.

9. In five years, what is one thing Summer wants to have in life that she doesn't have now? A passport filled with stamps. Summer loves to travel, but has yet to be an international traveler. This is one of her big goals.

10. Why did Summer want to start this blog? Summer is always creating things: collages, paintings, photographs, etc. But we have limited space in our little blue house, so these things get stored and never see the light of day. I think that having a blog will allow her to continue creating while giving her a space to store and share these things. We recently saw a t.v. show where the couple was downsizing to live in a tiny house and they had to take pictures of their cherished possessions that wouldn't fit in their new home. They created an album to keep the memories. I think this blog will serve as Summer's album of memories. It will also let her share a piece of herself with others and that's what all good artists do, share their perspective of the world with others.

Meet Christie

Summer's thoughts about Christie:

1. What inspires Christie? A thirst for knowledge. Christie is deeply driven by needing to collect every ounce of knowledge she can. That thirst inspires her to go after her dreams, try new things, and never settle for the simple answer.

2. If Christie could do one thing for the rest of her life, what do you think it would be? Haul up in a Library, only ever seeing the light of day through the skylights and book dust.

3. If Christie could only listen to one song for the rest of her life what would it be? This literally changes from day to day. I would say the correct answer today would be "Love yourself" by the Beibs

4. What is Christie's favorite ice cream? Half Baked by Ben & Jerry

5. If Christie could live anywhere in the world where would she live? Florence, Italy. She went there once and it stole her heart.

6. What does Christie admire most about you? I think that Christie admires my creativity. Probably more than anyone else does in my life. She has always driven me to take the creative road and to follow my dreams.

7. If Christie were a pattern which one would she be? Toile - Classy and Colorful

8. What is Christie's favorite food? Pizza

9. In five years, what is one thing Christie wants to have in life that she doesn't have now? A baby or two. Christie cannot wait to be a mother.

10. Why did Christie want to start this blog? To have a creative outlet where she can be herself and have a reason indulge in all of the things she loves to do. "Why are you baking a 5 tier cake?" "Clearly, I am doing it for the blog!"
